A school bus driver has received a suspended jail sentence in Cass County for an accident that killed a 6-year-old boy.
Westal John Maine, 74, was driving the bus that ran over Evan Lee Lindquist after he was dropped off near the City of Pine River last March.
Maine violated the state law that prohibits him from moving the bus without determining that children are a safe distance away after unloading.
Maine would serve 10 days in jail if he does not comply with several conditions, including speeches to other bus drivers.
