Minn son accused of setting fires at parents' home

A Mankato teen is accused of lighting two separate fires at his parents' house and trying to pin the blame on his then-girlfriend.

The Free Press of Mankato says the 17-year-old is charged in juvenile court with two counts of first-degree arson and three counts of criminal damage to property.

Police say one of the fires caused extensive damage to the garage and a vehicle.

The first fire was reported June 17. Investigators determined it had been fueled by gasoline.

Three weeks later investigators were called to the home after two vehicles were scratched and spray-painted in the garage. Two days after that there was another large garage fire.

After interviewing the teen's girlfriend, police began to suspect the teen. Court documents say he eventually confessed.
