A former U.S. Army analyst whose security clearance was recently revoked has been arrested in Minnesota while trying to board a one-way flight to China.
The U.S. Attorney's office says Liangtian Yang, 26, also known as Alfred Yang, of Lawton, Okla., allegedly had multiple data storage devices, one of which contained a restricted Army field manual, when he was arrested Thursday.
Yang was charged in Oklahoma Thursday with one count of theft of government property. He made his first appearance in federal court in St. Paul Friday. He'll be returned to Oklahoma for prosecution.
Prosecutors say Yang was a civilian analyst Fort Sill, Okla., until Aug. 16 when his secret clearance was revoked because of alleged security violations.
If convicted, Yang faces a potential maximum penalty of one year in prison.
