Wrong-way driver sentenced in fatal crash

A wrong-way diver has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for a crash that killed an unborn child and critically injured the mother.

Forty-two-year-old Connie Stroud will have to serve over three years in prison and spend 19 months on probation.

Stroud had a blood-alcohol level more than double the legal limit when she drove the wrong way on an Interstate 94 ramp in Minneapolis last December.

She struck a van carrying Tao Thao, who was 24 weeks pregnant with her sixth child. At Wednesday's sentencing, both parents wore T-shirts imprinted with a photo of the boy they planned to name Jaylee.

Stroud pleaded guilty last month. Her lawyer asked for just probation, saying Stroud has been through treatment and has been sober since the night of the crash.
