Obama to visit Minnesota for fundraising stop
State Democratic party officials are confirming that President Barack Obama will travel to Minnesota sometime in the next six weeks.
The president will be in the state to throw his weight behind a fundraising effort aimed at helping Democratic candidates get elected this November.
Obama is also expected to travel to Florida. Few additional details are available about the president's schedule.
DFL party spokesman Donald McFarland said state party activists plan to take full advantage of the president's help.

"We'd be thrilled to have the president come to Minnesota," McFarland said. "It's always exciting when the president of the United States decides to campaign in your backyard."
McFarland saif the president's visit will help Democratic candidates get elected this November.
"There is a long time to go before election day so the notion that Democrats are going to lose control of the House or the Senate is completely yet to be determined," McFarland said. "Having the president come and help with all of our races would be great news for us."
A report from the New York Times says the tour is intended to energize Democratic voters in advance of the upcoming elections.
Obama last visited the Twin Cities in September of 2009, when he was soliciting public support for federal health care reform.
