Clinton: New-look GOP makes Bush look liberal

Former President Bill Clinton says Republicans are embracing "ideology over evidence" and pushing out pragmatic voices.

During a Democratic fundraiser Tuesday night in Minneapolis, Clinton said a lot of the Republican Party's candidates this year would make former President George W. Bush "look like a liberal."

Clinton came to Minnesota to support Mark Dayton, the Democratic nominee for governor. Dayton served in the U.S. Senate with Clinton's wife, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and supported her for president in 2008.

Organizers of Tuesday's event sought campaign donations of between $250 and $1,000.

Clinton is the first of two big-name Democrats campaigning on Dayton's behalf. Dayton will appear with Vice President Joe Biden in a few weeks.
