Minnesota Democrats and their allies have a 3-to-1 financial edge over Republican groups, despite the furor over corporate donations from Target Corp. and others helping the GOP.
An Associated Press analysis finds that groups favoring Democrats were sitting on $3.6 million at the last reporting deadline. That compares with $1.2 million for groups supporting Republican candidates and party units.
The AP reviewed hundreds of the most recent campaign finance reports.
The reports showed activity through July 19 and big donations for three weeks leading up to the August 10th primary.
The next round of reports are due Tuesday.
