Ex-Mpls cop pleads guilty to 5 robberies

A former Minneapolis police officer who robbed a bank at gunpoint in January has pleaded guilty to five other armed robberies.

Twenty-nine-year-old Timothy Carson pleaded guilty Wednesday in Hennepin County to five counts of aggravated robbery.

According to a criminal complaint, he committed the robberies on different days in December and January. He used a pistol each time, and his victims included a coffee shop, a Super America store and a woman at a bus stop.

Carson will be sentenced Oct. 6.

He is already serving eight years in federal prison for robbing an Apple Valley bank at gunpoint. He's accused of other robberies and attempted robberies in Dakota County.

His attorney had no comment Wednesday, citing the upcoming sentencing and pending charges.
