Consumer safety official promotes pool safety

Federal safety commission chairwoman Inez Moore Tenebaum is in St. Paul Monday to promote swimming pool safety.

With 16 indoor waterparks and nearly 4,000 public pools, officials say colder weather is no time to forget about staying safe in swimming pools and hot tubs.

Tenebaum, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Mayor Chris Coleman will join Abbey Taylor's family at the Great River Water Park for a safety demonstration.

Abbey Taylor is the Edina girl who was disemboweled when she sat on an open drain at a country club pool in 2007. The 6-year-old died after undergoing 16 surgeries in nine months.
