Man pleads guilty in Apple Valley cabbie killing
An Apple Valley man has pleaded guilty to unintentional murder for stabbing a cab driver to death last year.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports 19-year-old Abdirahman Abdikarim entered his plea Monday in Dakota County.
A grand jury indicted Abdikarim last December for first-degree murder in the death of stabbing of 41-year-old Michael Palm Jr. Palm's body was found in his cab on Aug. 1, 2009, in front of an office building in Apple Valley. He had been stabbed 30 times.
Abdikarim admitted in court that he broke into the cab with a screwdriver, then used it to kill the cabbie, who surprised him. He had wanted to steal a GPS unit.

Under sentencing guidelines, he now faces between 15 and 21 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Dec. 14.
