Minn. professor attends White House college summit

When President Barack Obama argued that community colleges are crucial to America's future competitiveness, a Minnesota professor was in the front row.

Obama convened the first White House summit on community colleges on Tuesday and North Hennepin Community College chemistry professor Dr. Eugenia Paulus was there.

A news release from the college says she was one of only 100 community college faculty, administrators and students from across the country asked to attend.

Paulus has been the recipient of numerous national awards for teaching, including the 2008 national professor of the year from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

She looked forward to talking about the importance of science education and undergraduate research in community colleges during the summit.
