Minn. teen indicted in Lake Elmo shooting death

An Oakdale teenager accused of fatally shooting a man for spare car parts faces stiffer charges.

A grand jury has indicted 19-year-old Dao Xiong on a first-degree murder charge. Bail is set at $2 million.

Xiong originally was charged with second-degree murder in the September death of 33-year-old Youa Lor of St. Paul. A first-degree murder conviction carries a life sentence in Minnesota.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports 19-year-old Keng Thao of Maplewood also is charged in Lor's death. Thao faces one count of second-degree murder.

According to the complaint, Xiong and Thao met with Lor ostensibly to buy a car that he had listed for sale on Craigslist.

After a test drive, Lor was shot and left in a ditch in Lake Elmo. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Xiong and Thao are in the Washington County Jail.
