Obama to visit Minn. to stump for Dayton

President Obama will headline a rally for DFL gubenatorial candidate Mark Dayton in the Twin Cities on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Dayton's campaign hasn't released many other details yet. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will join the president that evening for a private fundraiser in Minneapolis for the political arm of the Democrats in the U.S. House.

Dayton has already had some high-profile Democrats visit the state on his behalf, including former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.

Obama's last visit to Minnesota was about a year ago, when he discussed health care reform at an event in Minneapolis.

A recent Minnesota Public Radio News/Humphrey Institute poll found the president's approval rating in Minnesota is 48 percent.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich visited the state last Wednesday to stump for Republican candidate for governor Tom Emmer.
