2 hurt in small plane crash in Rice County

A small plane crashed into a bean field south of Lonsdale in Rice County after hitting some power lines. Two people suffered minor injuries.

The Rice County Sheriff's Department says it happened about 2:15 p.m. Sunday. The initial investigation suggests the plane hit a power line then hit a combine working in the field.

The combine driver was not hurt, but the pilot and his passenger were taken to a hospital in New Prague with minor injuries.

They were identified as Martin Curtis, 66, of Montgomery and Roxanne Rossini, 58, of Prior Lake.

The sheriff's office says federal aviation officials are expected to begin their own investigation of the crash on Monday.
