Education Commissioner Alice Seagren is applauding a pair of Eden Prairie High School students for their outstanding showing on the 2010 Advanced Placement Exams.
Jieming Liu and Quian Long earned College Board State AP Scholar Awards, making them two of 109 students nationwide to receive the honor.
The College Board, which oversees the AP tests, gives the AP Scholar Award to the top male and female students in each state and the District of Columbia.
For five straight years, the number of Minnesota students taking AP tests has increased. At the same time, there was an 8 percent increase in the number of students scoring a three or higher on their exams, which is the cut score used by most colleges to award college credit.
In 2010, 32,500 students from 291 schools took AP exams.
