Residents jump from burning apartment building

Authorities suspect arson in an early morning apartment fire in south Minneapolis that forced residents to jump from the building and toss young children to safety.

One tenant caught three children who escaped from a third-floor window early Thursday.

Chilo Alvaredo says he helped his sister-in-law's children after she suffered a leg injury when she jumped from the burning building.

Authorities tell WCCO Radio the fire started in a hallway. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, authorities say arson is suspected.
