Former Twin Cities attorney Aaron Biber has been sentenced to 18-years in prison for having sex with a 15-year-old boy.
Judge Lloyd Zimmerman sentenced Biber Wednesday after a hearing that lasted one and a half days. Biber will serve 12 of the 18 years if he follows prison rules. If he's released at that point, he'll still be under court supervision for another 10 years.
KARE-TV reports the 15-year-old victim testified he turned to Biber "as a mentor and friend ... but that mentorship came at a deep cost."
According to the Star Tribune, Biber broke down and said, "I am so sorry."
Biber pleaded guilty in July to first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Biber was previously employed by the Gray Plant Mooty law firm in Minneapolis and was treasurer of the State Bar Association.
