Emmer's campaign raises $2.8 million

Republican Tom Emmer's campaign for governor has raised $2.8 million over the last two years, it announced Monday. Emmer, a legislator from Delano, said the bulk of that money -- nearly $2.7 million -- was raised in 2010 alone, more than half of it since July.

The campaign said it had $461,152 left in the bank at last week's reporting deadline. Emmer spokesman Carl Kuhl said the campaign is pleased with its fundraising totals.

"We do continue to raise money. I don't know if you can ever say that you can have enough in a campaign like this, when you're going up against a Democratic candidate who has a great wealth that he can rely on," said Kuhl, referring to DFLer Mark Dayton.

Emmer, who didn't face a major primary challenge, still hasn't reached Dayton's fundraising figures reported in July. The July report showed that Dayton loaned his campaign $3.2 million over the last two years.

Dayton's spokeswoman says his campaign will release its fundraising report Tuesday. The Minnesota Campaign Fiance Board will release all of the campaign finance reports Tuesday morning.
