Health sciences students at the University of Minnesota are honoring those who donated their bodies to science.
The nondenominational service is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Northrop Auditorium on the Minneapolis campus. The event is open to the public.
The assistant director of the university's Anatomy Bequest Program, Angela McArthur, says body donations are vital to scientific research, so those gifts benefit everyone who receives health care.
The service, which is held annually, is a chance for students to show their appreciation to the families of body donors.
The university's Anatomy Bequest Program has been accepting whole body donations since 1901. The program accepts donors of any gender, race or cause of death.
