Minn. community leader faces child porn charges

A Brainerd man says he will not accept the Brainerd Citizen of the Year Award after he was charged with possessing child pornography.

The Brainerd Dispatch reports Steven "Gus" Augustinack, 52, was charged Friday with 28 counts of felony possession of pornographic work involving a minor.

On Monday, he told the newspaper he apologized for the pain he caused and says he's in counseling to overcome years of addiction to Internet pornography.

His attorney, Charles Halverson, says the alleged videos of children were a tiny sample of the 75,000 adult videos found on Augustinack's hard drive. He says that shows Augustinack wasn't interested in child pornography.
