Minn. man sentenced for false bomb threat

A Minnesota man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for reporting a false bomb threat to the FBI.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 26-year-old Daniel Gerald Peterson of Hutchinson was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months on one count of offering false information and hoaxes.

Peterson pleaded guilty in June.

In his plea agreement, Peterson admitted that in September 2009 he gave the FBI a false tip that someone was planning to bomb the Bank of Oklahoma Center, a sports arena in Tulsa, Okla.

The FBI investigated and determined the threat was made up.
