IRS: $1.4 million in undelivered Minn. refunds

The Internal Revenue Service says it has nearly $1.4 million in refund checks that haven't been delivered to Minnesotans because of mailing address errors.

The IRS says those undelivered checks average nearly $1,100 this year in Minnesota, up from $79 in 2009. The agency says the increase may be due to new tax credits and expansion of current credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit.

IRS spokeswoman Carrie Resch says if you think you might be missing a refund, update your address with the agency.

Nationally, there's more than $164 million in undelivered refunds that are due nearly 112,000 taxpayers this year.
