Big storm dumps up to a foot of snow on N.D, S.D
Bad weather kicked off Thanksgiving week in the Dakotas, with conditions likely to worsen by the holiday in some areas.
Freezing drizzle led to numerous accidents in southeast South Dakota early Monday, including one that sent a Highway Patrol trooper to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
Northern South Dakota and southern North Dakota got snow, with as much as a foot likely in some parts of North Dakota.
The National Weather Service said a system Wednesday and Thursday could bring up to 10 inches of snow to western and central North Dakota and slightly lesser amounts to the east.
The Thanksgiving system also could bring strong winds and dangerously cold wind chills to some areas.
