Mall of America debuts public safety campaign

The Mall of America wants holiday shoppers to keep their eyes peeled for any suspicious activity and report it to authorities.

Officials hold a news conference at the Bloomington mall on Wednesday to launch the "See Something Say Something" campaign.

It's part of a federal campaign already launched in other cities. The Mall of America is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to make people more aware of their surroundings and to report anything suspicious.

Campaign messages will be placed in the mall's common areas, aimed at the more than 10 million people who visit the mall during the holidays.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety plans to launch a similar statewide program in coming weeks.
