Central Minn. woman hurt by loose wheel

A St. Cloud woman is recovering after she was struck by a wheel that broke off a trailer and hit her as she got the mail.

Stearns County sheriff's authorities say 53-year-old Jeanne McGuire was standing near a mailbox near Kimball Monday when the wheel struck her lower right leg.

The driver was towing the trailer when the wheel broke off a tandem axle. After the wheel hit McGuire and knocked her down, it rolled another 100 yards before coming to a stop in a ditch.

The driver told authorities he didn't realize the tire had broken off until he got home.
