A Plymouth 17-year-old has been found guilty of murder in the beating death of another teen as part of a gang initiation at Theodore Wirth Park.
Emmanuel Garmedhem Myles was convicted Monday of two counts of second-degree murder.
He was 16 when he and other teens used their hands, feet and a shovel to beat 17-year-old James Teto Grant of Brooklyn Park in July.
Myles was charged as an adult. He faces between one and 40 years in prison on each count when he's sentenced Jan. 21.
The complaint says that after Grant died, the teens started digging a grave, but then tied a stolen car battery to his leg and dumped his body in a pond in Golden Valley. A kayaker found him eight days later.
A message left with Myles' attorney was not immediately returned Monday.
