Vadnais Heights man given 76 years for killing family

A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 76 1/2 years in prison for killing his wife and two of their children at the family's Vadnais Heights apartment last fall.

Justus Ogendi Kebabe was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty Oct. 29 to three counts of intentional second-degree murder.

The bodies of Kebabe's wife, 32-year-old Bilha Omare, and their 9-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son were discovered on Oct. 14.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office said Kebabe must serve at least 51 years in prison before he is eligible for release.

Kebabe was found near his stalled car on Interstate 35, apparently fleeing the scene of the crime. The couple's 4-year-old daughter was with him and was taken into protective custody.
