Woman thrown from car hit, killed in Maple Grove

Authorities are investigating a multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 494 in Maple Grove in which an Eagan woman was killed but her 2-year-old daughter survived.

Minnesota State Patrol spokesman Lt. Eric Roeske says roads were icy around 7 a.m. Saturday when 25-year-old Amanda Lynch lost control of her vehicle and it struck the median and rolled. Lynch was ejected and landed in the oncoming traffic lanes.

The drivers of two trucks saw what happened and pulled over, but Roseke says a car came from behind the trucks and hit Lynch, who investigators believe was alive before she was hit.

Roseke says Lynch did not appear to be wearing a safety belt, but her daughter was strapped in a child seat and was not hurt.
