One of the engines on a Delta Air Lines Boeing 757 caught fire Wednesday morning as it was preparing to take off from the Twin Cities airport.
Airport spokeswoman Melissa Scovronski said no one was hurt when one of the plane's engines spouted flames at about 6:30 a.m. She said the ferry flight was carrying only crew members.
"They had already pulled away from the gate, and they had noticed that there were some flames coming out of one of the engines," she said. "They shut it down and the fire department got there and there were no flames at the time, so they didn't have to do anything with it."
Officials said the fire likely occurred because of a fuel pressure issue, but Delta maintenance crews were investigating.
The plane was towed away for repairs.
