Dog wakes Minnesota family to house fire

The family dog is getting credit for waking three people who escaped a house fire southwest of Minneapolis.

Carver County authorities say crews were called to the house just before midnight Thursday. By the time firefighters arrived the house was engulfed in flames.

Three family members were outside, a safe distance from the house. The sheriff's office says it's believed the family dog woke them up and alerted them to the fire.

KARE-TV reports the house was in a rural area with no water system, so tankers had to truck in water to fight the fire.
