A Continental flight reported smoke in the cockpit before landing safely at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Flight 2370 from Newark to Minneapolis was being operated by ExpressJet Airlines. ExpressJet said in a written statement that the crew declared an emergency as a precaution on approach to landing at Minneapolis "due to the indication of smoke in the flight deck."
Airport spokeswoman Melissa Scovronski said a fire crew was called and met the plane before escorting it to the gate around 11:15 a.m. No smoke was found once the plane landed, she said.
No one was injured, and the aircraft made it to the gate without incident, officials said.
The Embraer 145 was scheduled to depart for Cleveland at noon but was delayed by about two hours for maintenance. The airline did not provide details as to the cause of the reported smoke.
