Police searching for man accused of abducting St. Paul girl

Police are searching for the man they say abducted a 7-year-old girl from the Giant Wash Laundry in St. Paul Sunday evening.

The girl was found safe in Spring Lake Park in the north metro after an Amber Alert was issued. She had disappeared for about an hour and a half.

St. Paul Police spokesman John Keating said police don't know all the details of what happened to the girl and are still searching for the man.

"Investigators will continue to work with the girl today to try to determine what events occurred during that hour or hour and a half," Keating said.

Keating said witnesses told police the man was in his 50s with gray shoulder-length hair.

Investigators are asking businesses near where the girl was abducted for surveillance video to see if anything was captured on tape.
