9 named to Minn. broadcasting hall of fame

The Minnesota Museum of Broadcasting has announced nine new inductees into its hall of fame.

Among the inductees are Frank Buetel, a pioneer in television news and sports with WTCN-TV; news director Barbara Reyelts of KBJR-TV Duluth; and Maynard Meyer, owner, general manager, program director, news director and morning host at KLQP-FM in Madison.

Also being inducted are Ray Vecellio, former WCCO Radio local sales manager; Steve Woodbury, president and CEO of Northern Lights Broadcasting; and Charles "Woody" Woodward, longtime owner and operator of KSUM/KFMC in Fairmont.

Two broadcasters are being inducted posthumously - Phil Lewis of WCCO Radio and John Sherman, who helped build WCCO-TV.

The ceremony will be held Oct. 15 at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley. Proceeds from the gala benefit the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting.
