Car runs over dog, plows into Duluth home

A speeding car ran over a tree with two dogs tied to it - killing one of them - before smashing into the front of a Duluth home.

The crashed happened at 1 a.m. on Monday. The 40-year-old Duluth woman driving the car was treated for minor injuries at St. Luke's Hospital. The Duluth News Tribune reports the accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Homeowner John Robich says the house shook and he heard a loud "ka-boom" when the car hit. He immediately called 911 and found the woman unconscious in her car.

Marian O'Neill had just tied up her two dogs. She went outside to find the tree was a stump. One dog was uninjured; the other was found beneath the car and died.
