Twins to plant 2 trees from Target Field

Two more displaced trees from Target Field have found a home.

The Minnesota Twins say they will plant the pair of black spruce Tuesday at St. Croix State Park in Hinckley. A brief ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. to mark the occasion.

The Twins have donated 10 of the 14 trees that used to stand behind the center field fence to Minnesota state parks.

Twins hitters complained that the trees hindered their ability to see the ball out of a pitcher's hand, so the Twins decided to take the trees down and plant them across the state.

Tuesday's planting is an extension of the "Break a bat, plant a tree" promotion. Each year 100 trees are planted for every bat broken by a Twins pitcher during the season.
