A woman is accused of punching her 8-year-old daughter inside a St. Paul classroom over a bag of art supplies.
Socorro Eaton, 26, of South St. Paul is charged in Ramsey County with malicious punishment of a child.
Police were called Tuesday to Bruce F. Vento Elementary School. According to the complaint, when a teacher told Eaton her daughter didn't need the art supplies because it was the last day of class, Eaton allegedly began screaming and punching her daughter and then left.
Eaton made her first court appearance Thursday and was released from custody. She was appointed a public defender, who was not available to talk after she left the office Thursday.
