Hundreds of people are expected to celebrate the life of the Rev. Paul M. Youngdahl at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis Friday.
Youngdahl helped build Mount Olivet into the largest Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation in the United States. He died unexpectedly Monday at age 73 from an existing aneurysm.
A service of celebration will be held at noon and 3 p.m. at Mount Olivet's Minneapolis campus. Services also are being streamed live on the church's website at www.mtolivet.org on Friday.
Youngdahl was an associate pastor for nearly six years before becoming senior pastor of Mount Olivet in 1974. The church has more than 13,000 baptized members.
A private committal service is being held for the family.
