Nevis pig races draw a crowd

At least one festival this weekend has been canceled as a result of the government shutdown, but there are plenty of events to choose from around the state this weekend.

In Nevis this weekend is a pig racing festival, now in its third year. Last year, the festival drew more than 1,000 people to the northern Minnesota town.

Other events are going on as scheduled. It's a big weekend for music festivals in Minnesota.

— The Basilica Block Party comes to Minneapolis this weekend. Performers include Ray LaMontagne, Michael Franti and Spearhead and David Gray.

— St. John's Block Party in Rochester. Performers Friday include Twin Cities artists Alison Scott and Communist Daughter. Saturday musicians are scheduled from noon to midnight -- both Eric Hutchinson and Mates of State will be in town to perform.
