The parent company of Minnesota Public Radio has named a new chief operating officer.
David Kansas, a veteran at the Wall Street Journal and a digital startup pioneer, will succeed Jon McTaggart, who replaced Bill Kling as CEO earlier this month.
McTaggart praised Kansas' experience as a journalist and administrator — especially his pioneering work in digital media. Kansas was on the founding team of TheStreet.com.
Kansas has held a variety of positions with Dow Jones & Company and The Wall Street Journal, including reporter, online deputy managing editor, European markets editor and chief markets commentator.
MPR says a national search attracted more than 100 candidates. Kansas is a native of St. Paul.
