Police shoot suspect in Minneapolis

A police officer shot and wounded a suspect during a foot chase in Minneapolis.

Officers responding to the sound of gunshots about 11 p.m. Monday say they saw the suspect running from the area and gave chase. Police say the 23-year-old man pulled out a handgun and was ordered to drop the weapon.

The suspect was shot after he failed to follow the order. He was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center and is expected to survive.

The officer who shot the man, as well as four other officers on the scene, are on a standard three-day administrative leave.
