Minnesota State Fair hikes ticket, parking costs

The Minnesota State Fair is raising some admission prices this year.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Wednesday that the Fair has raised its gate admission prices by a dollar to $12 for an adult ticket. But the biggest hike is in kids' ticket prices, which jumped from $2 to $10.

A Fair spokeswoman says the price hike is meant to cover building improvements and maintenance at the Fairgrounds. The price of advance tickets stayed the same as last year, at $9. The cost of parking in a fairground lot is also up by $1, to $12.

The Minnesota State Fair runs from Aug. 25 to Sept. 5.
