Man pulled from lake in Madison dies

The Madison Police Department says the swimmer pulled from Lake Mendota has died.

WKOW-TV reports the 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital on Monday. His name will not be released until his relatives have been notified.

The Dane County medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy.

Police say the man was drinking with friends near the lake Monday afternoon. He began swimming and friends soon noticed him missing and called 911.

Madison Fire Department divers found the man under water about minutes later.
