Minn. family waits to hear if hockey shot is worth $50K

Eleven-year-old Nate Smith shot a puck through a tiny hole 89 feet away. Now he and his family are waiting to hear if he'll collect a $50,000 prize or be whistled for a rules violation.

That's because his identical twin Nick was supposed to take the shot Thursday during a charity game in the southern Minnesota city of Faribault. Nick's name was on the ticket drawn for the chance.

But Nick was outside, so Nate took the shot - and made it.

Their father, Pat Smith, says honesty is the best policy. He told organizers Nate, not Nick, made the shot.

The company that insured the raffle hasn't said yet if it will pay.

But the Owatonna family got at least a consolation prize - a trip to New York to make the rounds on the morning shows.
