Police find three juveniles suspected of vandalism spree
Three boys were detained by Minneapolis police Monday night for allegedly smashing windows of more than 100 car windows on the city's south side.
The vandalism took place early Sunday morning and Monday evening. Minneapolis Police Sgt. William Palmer said the boys — aged 11, 15, and 16 — were taken into custody on suspicion of damage to property, taken to the juvenile detention center, processed and released. Palmer said the scale of this incident of vandalism is larger than anything he had seen before.
"At this point we have between $100,000 and $200,000 worth of damage, according to investigators, to 140 vehicles," Palmer said.
"We do expect that number of vehicles to climb through the day as people discover their vehicles were indeed damaged last night. We did see that on Sunday as well."

Eyewitness tips helped officers find the suspects, Palmer said.
An officer saw a vehicle matching a description given by an eyewitness. The car drove away as the officer approached, but the officer eventually stopped the car with the three suspects inside.
Evidence found in the car convinced officers that the juveniles were involved with the incident. The 15-year-old was driving the car, Palmer said.
Investigators are not looking for any further suspects.
