LAKEVILLE, Minn. (AP) - A father accused of abandoning his 11-year-old son in Minnesota has been arrested in California.
A statement from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department says 60-year-old Steven Alexander Cross was arrested Monday afternoon in Cambria, a small coastal town. The sheriff's department says a patrol deputy spotted Cross' van and arrested him without resistance.
The Lakeville father is wanted on a warrant for gross misdemeanor child neglect.
A warrant complaint says Cross left his son Sebastian a letter telling him to move in with neighbors because their house was in foreclosure. Authorities say another letter asked the neighbors to take care of his son. The boy has been placed in foster care.
