Golden Valley officer involved in fatal shooting

A portion of I-394 was closed for hours this afternoon as Golden Valley police investigated a fatal officer-involved shooting.

In a release, the Golden Valley police department says a police officer attempted to stop a vehicle on westbound I-394 near Hwy 169 a little after 1 p. The driver of the vehicle eventually pulled over to the side of I-394 near Hopkins Crossroad.

The release says police found a woman alone in the vehicle and armed with a handgun. She was subsequently fatally shot by the officer. The officer did not sustain any injuries.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is also investigating. The Golden Valley officer involved in the shooting has been placed on temporary administrative leave.
