Friday rush hour in St. Paul will be complicated by closures on both sides of I-35E.
Minnesota Department of Transportation at 6 a.m. will reduce southbound 35E to one lane between Highway 5/ West Seventh Street and Shepard Road beginning. All southbound lanes will re-open at 3 p.m.
Northbound I-35E beginning at 9 a.m. will be reduced to one lane between Highway 5 and Shepard Road. Northbound lanes will reopen by 7 p.m. Following work completion on 35E near the river, MnDOT will then close all but one southbound lane between 494 and Lone Oak Road in Eagan. Starting at 10 p.m., all southbound lanes will be closed in the area through the weekend.
The freeway work is part of a larger project that when complete should result in a smoother ride, extended pavement life, improved drainage and improved pedestrian crossings on I-35E between Highway 5 in St. Paul and Lone Oak Road in Eagan.
Visit MnDOT's website for project details.
