Twin Cities law firm Faegre & Benson will merge with an Indianapolis-based law firm to allow the combined operation to take on larger projects and provide greater expertise, officials said Wednesday.
Faegre & Benson LLP and Baker & Daniels LLP will become Faegre Baker Daniels on Jan. 1. The combined firm will have 815 lawyers and consultants in 13 offices in the U.S., China and the United Kingdom.
"The size and added capabilities of the combined firm will give us the ability to devote more resources to larger projects, bring deeper and broader experience to complex matters and transactions, and provide greater expertise in certain niche areas," Tom Froehle, chief executive partner at Baker & Daniels, said in a news release.
Andrew Humphrey, managing partner at Faegre & Benson, said in the release that both firms wanted to expand in order to "continue providing the high-quality services and expertise required by our clients."
Humphrey will be managing partner of Faegre Baker Daniels, and Froehle will become the combined firm's chief operating partner.
