Nation's school librarians to gather in Mpls.

School librarians from across the country will be talking about more than books when they gather in Minneapolis this week.

"Turning the Page" is the theme of the American Association of School Librarians' 15th national conference and exhibition. It runs Thursday through Sunday at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Conferees will explore the use of social media, the effects of budget cuts and how to promote quality education.

More than 3,000 school librarians, educators, publishers and guests are expected to attend.

Author Nicholas Carr kicks off the conference Thursday. Carr's book, "The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains," was chosen as a conference-wide read.

International mobile technology expert Mimi Ito headlines the closing session Saturday.
