Ortonville police: Boyfriend of slain woman moves to Mexico

ORTONVILLE, Minn. (AP) -- Police are trying to reassure residents of Ortonville that there's no threat to their safety after the body of a missing woman was found buried nearby.

Authorities haven't offered an explanation. Officials say the boyfriend of the woman moved to Mexico a day after she disappeared in early October. But, investigators haven't named the man as a suspect.

News of the woman's disappearance had the small town of 2,000 on edge. Thirty-year-old Renata Fernandez-Ramon had worked at Monarch Heights Disability Services Center. Staff director Chad Karels tells WCCO-TV that it's a shock that she's gone.

The cause of death is still under investigation. Community members say Fernandez-Ramon was the mother of two children, ages 8 and 10.
